Cardi Vostok – The Meeting of Automotive Design and Russian Watchmaking
The Cardi Vostok brand was born from a unique collaboration between Russian automotive design and post-Soviet mechanical watchmaking. “Cardi” is short for Car Design Studio, a Moscow-based company renowned in the 1990s for its sports and custom car designs.
During those years, Cardi joined forces with the historic Vostok manufactory to create a series of watches celebrating the aesthetics and allure of the motoring world. The result was a range of sporty and modern models, such as the Racingtime GP, MVM Sport, and Capitan, distinguished by dials inspired by speedometers, substantial cases, and a boldly automotive style.
Fitted with Vostok mechanical movements, such as the reliable 2416B automatic calibre, these watches combined functionality and durability, becoming symbols of industrial creativity searching for new forms of expression after the collapse of the USSR.
Today, Cardi Vostok watches are rare and highly prized by collectors, as they represent an original and little-known chapter of Russian watchmaking, where design and a passion for cars merge into a unique visual identity.
