Ostwok

Ostwok is a Soviet watch brand with a unique and interesting history. In the 1990s, a Swiss company named Ostwok SA imported Vostok watches from the Soviet Union to sell them in various European countries. Ostwok is an anagram of Wostok, the name Vostok used for the German market, where the “W” was used to achieve the correct pronunciation. The choice of name emphasizes the Eastern European origins of the watches.

These watches were sold by mail order and included models such as the Komandirskie, known for their durability and precision, features highly appreciated by both military personnel and vintage watch enthusiasts. The production of Ostwok watches reflected the market needs of the time, offering a combination of Soviet reliability and European style. The company remained active until 2002, when it was officially liquidated (Sovietaly) (Poljot24).
